1/144 Big Gun

 

Emphasis:

  • Relative scaling of gun caliber, firing rate, ship speed, and armor thicknesses to mimic historical variation.

Noted Features:

  • Multiple caliber cannons up to 1/4" Ball Bearings.
  • Armor Thickness up to 1/8" Balsa
  • Cannon Quantity only limited by original design

Noted Limitations:

  • Warships are slow; 33 knots = 2.9 ft/sec (1.9 mph)
  • Slow weapon rate of fire; Up to 8 seconds between shots
  • Maximum pump discharge rate = 100 gph

 

 

MWC 1/144 Small Gun

 

Emphasis:

  • Warship speed, agility, design simplicity, and low cost.

Noted Features:

  • Fast ships; Iowa Class Battleship (33 Knots) = 4.2 ft/sec (2.9mph)
  • No limit on weapon rate of fire
  • No limit on pump discharge rate
  • Club has dedicated insurance policy

Noted Limitations:

  • Maximum Weapon Caliber = .177" BB
  • Maximum Armor Thickness = 1/32" Balsa
  • Maximum pump discharge port diameter = 1/8in
  • Maximum quantity of cannons (+ pumps) allowable = 8

 

 

IRCWCC 1/144 Fast Gun

 

Emphasis:

  • Warship speed, agility, design simplicity, and low cost.

Noted Features:

  • The IRCWCC is the oldest fast(small) gun club
  • Fast ships; Iowa Class Battleship (33 Knots) = 4.2 ft/sec (2.9mph)
  • No limit on weapon rate of fire
  • No limit on pump discharge rate
  • Club has dedicated insurance policy

Queens Own Scale Model Warship Club

 

Emphasis:

  • 1/72nd scale realistic fighting warships.

Noted Features:

  • The ships are built to 1/72nd scale which allows us to place an emphasis on authenticity & fittings.
  • 3/16” & 1/4" cannons, other calibers have been eliminated due to the cost of construction and supply versus the small differential in performance between 3/16" and 7/32".
  • No limit on the firing rate of cannons.
  • Mines add a lot of interest in battles and consist of floating balls coupled together with string to ensnare an opponents propellers.

Noted Limitations:

  • Ships limited to between 50 & 450 rounds based on tonnage.
  • Torpedoes are limited to 1/4" in diameter, 6' in length and are allowed on patrol boats only.
  • Destroyers are the most common vessels and are approximately 5 to 6' in length. Cruisers, basically the largest vessels in the fleet, are 10 to 12 feet in length, although we do allow the German Pocket Battleships.
