Our local newspaper, the Tri-City Herald, is going to do a story on us!

So we need people, ships, insurance, a pond...  fast.  oi.  This is going to be a lot of work!

Cheers,

We had lunch with the reporter today, I think it went very well.

The article will happen in under two weeks. Which means greg & I have to get busy. We are calling all available ships/captains in the Washington area to come to our aid & provide additional firepower to make this a good showing.

We will not only advertise the hobby & the local group... but also a 'event in the park' where I hope to have several ships in the water & one gutted on display.

I wonder if (since the local newspaper is doing an article) if the local tv news would be willing/interested in also doing a story... I'll have to call them & try setting something up.

Nick, do you have a functional warship? Will you heed the call to arms?
Cheers,

I've got Phill's Suffren occupying my dining room table at the moment. She's more or less functional. I still need to find a source for dope and silkspan for her sheeting and she needs a new prop, but the cannons fire and she answers the helm.

There's absolutely no way I can get out there this weekend and next is booked as well (wedding to be at saturday and WCC event Sunday (unless Phill decides a roadtrip to TriCities is preferable to staying local - and even then its a 3.5 hour drive there and another 3.5 back, makes a long day). As for weekdays - can't take time off in the next 2 weeks because my coworker decided to go to Africa, leaving us a person short until after memorial day...

So if the event runs over Memorial Day Weekend I could have a shot of making it, but pretty much any other time this month won't work.
