| | 12 May 2010 11:17 AM | | This is a case of I have been distracted with other things warship related like rebuilding Phills NC, instead of closely supervising Andrew. It was an old 550 motor, seemed to pump just fine once it did get going. My guess is the rpm was fine. Given its age a motor swap wouldn't be a bad idea though. I hadn't thought about using a esc for a pump to help with starting before. Hmmm might have to do that for my upcoming super duper dreadnought build. | | | |

If it isn't a polarity issue then it is a slippage issue, either the motor shaft on the impeller or the motor shaft is slipping inside the motor itself. The latter is rare but given the age of the motor anything is possible. I tightened the impeller set screw and it didn't seem to slip or be stripped. So I would change the motor and then see what happens.

| | 13 May 2010 11:24 PM | | I'm going to do my best to have the Maru ready, but at this point its never run for more than 5 minutes and never anywhere under power that wasn't my bathtub - so I can't guarantee how well it will work come Sunday. I haven't talked to Phill about the Fond du Lac, so I only know he's thought about it from the one mention he made of maybe getting it ready - he may or may not have it ready. You could call him and find out I imagine though. | | Running: SMS Derfflinger,

I just weighed my NC hull. Empty except for the rudder servo and drive motors she weighs in at a healthy 15 lbs!!! Loaded she makes weight but just barely. I think I just might need to get started on that smaller ship sooner rather than later.
