The Germans. Roland Gerrick's veteran battleship Bismarck, with Josh Finnigan's veteran heavy cruiser Deutschland (standing in for Ray Bisson's Prince Eugen, which was not finished in time for the battle).
Signal from flagship to Deutschland. You take the lead. My forward radar is out of action.

Those are not cruisers. They are battleships.
A photo opp. None of us had ever seen a Bismarck, Prince of Wales, and Hood on the water at the same time.

The site owner's dog decided that it wanted a piece of the action, and jumped in after the Deutschland got too close to her favorite swimming spot. haha. Too funny. That will learn them. Signal from POW to flagship. Lead ship is not the Bismarck. Signal from Hood. This is Treaty combat dude. Damage doesn't count. I am going for the sink points.

7 minutes into the battle.
Signal from POW. Glad to see you are still here.
Signal from the Bismarck, to Hood. Time out. You were suppose to have blown up almost a minute ago. This in not in the script.

Deutschland was experiencing some system problems, which allowed the two Brits to gang up on the Bismarck for a short time.

| | 27 May 2009 06:28 AM | | Seeing Bismarck and Hood on the water along with the POW got my interest going on these ships. I got the books of them in front of me right now. That POW what is the internal layout of that ship consist of? How is it armed? | | | |

| | 27 May 2009 12:46 PM | | I'm working off memory here, so I might get this wrong. He had a single stern gun in the PoW, at 100 rounds. A and B turret each had a 75 round gun which could be moved by hand. They started off as sidemounts, but by the end of the battle, he had both of them set up as bow guns. Personally, I think they'd have been more effective as sidemounts, but Phil likes bow and stern guns. Can't fault anyone for battling their boat how they want to.
I'm sure on the number of guns (3) but not as positive on the amount of units he had for each gun. No more then 75 are allowed per "sidemount" but he could have more in the stern gun.
If I were setting one up for treaty, I'd go with 75 round sides in A and B turret and twin 50 round sterns in Y turret.
Not sure about the internal layout, I know he was running a 12v system though with some new, very efficient 12v 550 motors that he and Mikey Deskin found. That all being said, I have to say I was surprised by how well the PoW turned. I'm not sure what he did with his props/rudder to get that kind of performance, but if you built one and armed it with quad sterns for IRCWCC/MWC and got it to turn as well as Phil's, you'd lay down some major pain. | | | HMS Invincible

| | 29 May 2009 07:18 AM | | Thanks crzyhawk for the info. That description has me thinking about the POW. For CWC-X I can arm POW 6 cannons and 1 pm. I can have up to 4 cannons in a quadrant. So If I rotate the stern turret and have bow guns I can mount very effective and devestating firepower. Tks. | | | |
