Hi,

I know you guys have a few Iowa's battling down there so was just wondering what they are using in terms of drive set up. Gears or direct drive, type and size of motors and props etc...

Thanks in advance

I would run it on two 550's ,direct drive, 1 inch prop. That's almost what I've got the sodak running on. If it needed more power maybe a Hi Po 550 style motor.

Johnson 970 motors work good also. They come to 2 voltages 6 and 12. I got 6 volt in my IOWA and they scream. I had to put on little props so I would not start hydroplaning. Originally it had 24 volt aircraft motors and gear reduction. Now it's direct drive. I heard that the 12 version is better and I do know they use them on YAMs with good results.
