Has anyone ever see or have the following plans from Taubman?
SMC-473 Lutzow 1913 1/200 scale $22.00
SMC-469 Goeben 1912 1/200 scale $22.00
SMC-474 Vonn der Tann 1909 1/200 scale $22.00

what is the quality of the plans? Rib Stations?
Thanks,

SMC is a Russian Plans Service,

Taubman is just selling them. I haven't seen any of their plans for German ships, but I do have a set of plans for the Russian Sinop class of pre-dreadnoughts from them.

They are decent plans, enough lines to build a hull decent hull, and drawn with the model builder in mind.

I haven't ordered any of their 1/200 scale offerings because the of loss plan quality enlarging to 1/72 scale.

Hey Dread,
Does anyone else on line sell SMC plans? Does SMC have a website? I like to look at a sample of what I am buying.
Thanks for the info,

I have a set of the SMC plans for SMS Seydlitz. Came with a sheet of translations to Engrish :)

They look good and measure out correctly.

Hey guys,
I just went on SMC's site and looked at their plans. Good find. Question, the plans do have rib sections don't they?
Thanks,

Thats good to know Tug,

Now if there was only a way to go from 1/200 to 1/72 that didn't make the lines magic marker thick [:(]

I have gotten several of their plan sets and the only ones I am disappointed with are the Mikasa and Nissin. The Mikasa is poor for rib sections. Not really enough or very detailed.

Agreed,

The Taubman plans for turn of the century Japanese/Chinese ships are lousy. Of course, they are SMC plans and only cost $10 directly from SMC.

I will say that I have been well pleased with their Russian, British and German offerings.

Imp. Maria
Potemkin
Ceres
Mowe

If anyone was interested in which they were.

It'd be cool, but when was she commissioned? 1902? I think?

Oh, and I got some Russian plans for SMS Seydlitz from Taubman's and they're fine. Not the equal of Miyukikai, but then not much is, and Haruo-san doesn't do much other than Japanese (I think 4 or 5 WW2 ships from UK and US).

You are correct sir.

And don't we go back to 1900?

In Battlestations? Yes :) Trying to imagine a Mikasa hullform operating at the 24 knot minimum :) I figure that a Connecticut PDN would look like the Connecticut on the front of my website, only a couple of knots faster :)

Probably worse as Mikasa has a more pronounced ram than the Connecticuts.

Gnome, I'd buy the Anatomy of the Ship: Warspite and see the drawings there for the pre-bulge info.
