R/C Naval Combat

Wheewww. Well the show went very well this year. Attendance was way up for both days. Excellent interest in the display I setup. RC NAVAL COMBAT was well represented. It took up the majority of the table and wall display and 1/4 of the demo floor display. The brochures went out very well along with the cards. The weather was spawned from Hell the entire weekend particulalry Friday when I had to load and unload the U-HAUL van while there was freezing rain and hail with high wind.Same thing happened when I had to break it all down again and load and unload the van. All the models were well represented. 3 TVS were simulcasting RC combat videos from 3 different key locations around the display. Both dvds and videos. BB demostrations via way of the plexiglass enclosure went very well. The hobby shop owners stayed with me through the tour of the display and asked questions on how the whole thing worked. The kits from Battler's and Strike Models recevied lots of interest. Yamato Bismarck and Roma were very popular as completed ships. Warspite showcased her battle damage and patches and was laid out with full interior viewing of the internals backed up by a large display board outlining the key components and what they do.
The display consisted of 10 8ft tables forming a U shape but 36 ft long by 18ft deep. I had not only the Ships but the Tanks, Subs, and a helicopter on display as well. The demo section also included a 10x10 miniature Tank Town to demo the IR Tanks battling and a Airsoft Tank shooting gallery complete with a knockdown brick wall and targets to shoot at. It took me 7hrs to set up and 4 hrs to tear down the entire display.
I got pics so I will post them soon. Right now my Mother was sent to Emergency this morning so it may be a while before I can get a chance to post pics.

The Model organization here invited me and asked me to be part of the organizational team committee for next years show. Talks for the local TV media to do a preshow spot on the display are in works for next year.

The display generated a lot of interest and was considered the best display out of the entire show hands down. That I got from the actual members of the club that organized the show.

So overall it was a successful event. I was very happy to introduce to the public RC Naval Combat and the reception was very positive here.

Thanks Mikey. I posted a similar to the RC TANK forum. GF took all the pics. I had no time to do it myself. Got to go back now to the Hospital. My Mom's options are not looking good. She's 87 yrs old and a Deaf person. She couldn't move her legs this mornig. I carried her down 3 flights of stairs and got her to the hospital. Be back later

Sorry to hear about your mom Curt I hope she improves.It sounds like the show went we.

Finally my Mom has a hospital room instead of the emergency ward hallway. Going to see her today and get an update on what's next for her prognosis. I spent a couple of hrs sorting out the mess from the show after the breakdown of the display. Thanks guys for your support. I appreciate the kind words and concern. Thanks

I got my pictures developed hard copy and will be posting the pics maybe this evening. Can't visit my Mom in the hospital due to the Swine Flu protocals which limits visiting to 1 person. I have been vaccinated but takes 14 days for that to kick in.

Hang in there.
The protocals are certainly frustrating, but they are in place for a reason. It would not be good to have the swine flu added to your mom's list of hurdles.

So true. Took me several hours just to load my pics from GF's laptop to my file on the forum. There's more to transfer over. I will try again this evening. Once I get them to my Stokomoto file I can begin to post them here.
My Mother is holding steady and they found her the other morning half way out of the bed trying to get to the washroom. She made it with assistance by a nurse. I think she is beginning to accept that her legs may never work again...sadly.

LOL Thanks Mikey. I needed that. I had her drive Bismarck around the lake one time a few years ago. She was amazed she was operating it.

The long night begins setting up for the show. Here wer are at the other end of the room setting up the display.

Rolling out the tablecloth. Thank God for that one huge roll.

The Audio Visual is being installed. One of 3 Tvs set for simulcast of videos or just playing remote camera feed from the Rc Tanks on the floor.
