RE: My Bismark build You're going to waste a lot of wood if you lay out your templates like that. Try fitting some of the smaller ones inside the larger ones. Just a thought.

ooopss to late o_O Also the alot of the smaller ribs are on smaller 1/8" wood so they cant go into the bigger ribs which are on 3/8" wood.

RE: My Bismark build You can get decent scrollsaws for like $100 at Lowe's or Home Despot. If you can find one, you might get a bargain on Craigslist or ebay. Assuming it's close enough to pick up. Shipping would erase the savings.

After 4.5 -5 hrs of work (watching tv at same time haha) my ribs are sanded down and ready for interior cuts. I am going with a width of 1/2" with some extra left on on the bottom of the aft ribs incase of need.

and now all the ribs have been cut out completely. the only cuts left to make are the slots for the keels (i am doing a double keel 2" apart for most of the ship then a single for the bow and stern sections) along with a cut in a seclection of the middle ribs for the stringer (not sure if I am going to add it for the initial build or install during a refit if needed)

Also the double keels have been marked up and spaced properly for intallation.
Also my Golo kit is in the mail.

    RE: My Bismark build
So my Golo kit came in today so ofcourse instead of waiting i imediatly opened it up and went to work. Man i gotta tell you it is a breeze to assemble. the only difficulty is some of the pieces need to be sanded a bit to make the fit easier. which isnt hard at all. the intructions very easy to follow so I should have the hull constructed by the end of the weekend.

Ok now onto Bismark. I have hit a snag and need opinions of the experts. I need to cut out the slots on each rib for the keel to fit in. what tool is recomended for this? I am afraid to use the table saw i have because the area is pretty small and then the dremel likes to jump suddenly. If i had more wood i would not even be hesitating but as it stands i can replace 4-6 ribs on the wood i have.o_O

any tricks to make this one easy?

RE: My Bismark build I use a router table with a 1/4 cutting bit. Makes the job fast and easy. Failing that, a scrollsaw is the next weapon of choice, but you have to cut out each notch individually. Last choice, use your teeth and gnaw gnaw gnaw the notches out :)

RE: My Bismark build hahaha i feel the last option would be to just sand it all the way in :p . I ended up useing the saw i have but staying well inside the lines and then sanding them down the last little bit. I have the majority of the ribs notched and sitting on the keel (not glued). I just couldn't wait to see the biz take some sort of shape. Ill get a pic or 2 up later tonight (assuming the website allows me to)

lloyd, yeah i am getting there i actually have to builds going my Bismarck and my golo which is a transport kit laser cut and sold by RCENGR it is a fun little boat to build and good practice

RE: My Bismark build Yes, my apologies. Though if one thinks about making a laser cut CAE kit then we may in business. :)
