hull cut out with 1/8 armor belt stringer.

Lookign good so far. I like the wood backing for the stringers and the little vertical pieces above them.

What size motor are you throwing in this?
Running: SMS Derfflinger, IJN Maru(oiler)

The motor is a 6 volt Johnson hc970. They pull about 18 amps at 6 volts with a 2" or so prop.

going to use a speed controler..viber marine about 40 amps. Think that would be large enough

Depends on the voltage you run, the lower the voltage the higher the amp draw. I'm running a 25 in my Nagato powering 2 motors on 13.2 volts. That pulls 10-15 amps. We have 2 Tirpitz locally and have been experimenting with drive for a while. I think we settled on 12 volts with 2 Titan marines geared down about 2 to 1 and a 1 7/8" 5 blade prop, Vicious P could probably tell you more since one of the Tirpitz is his. I think he lost a 40 amp recently but it might have been previously damaged and only partially functional. I don't recommend using the bec on the speed control for anything, if you fry the bec you lose the speed control, and they are a little under powered. Castle creations makes a decent 10 amp and 20 amp bec that seem to be pretty durable.

using 6 volt, lead acid sealed batterys, at least two, maybe more depending on how the layout in the boat works outl
the batterys in parallel, so the voltage stays at 6 volts.
not planning on gearying down right now, using 1/1 that came with the kit.

just read up on the bec...Battery Eliminator Circuit....yes, sounds like it is better to get a speed controler with out bec.  then you will not have any noise between the reciever and motor voltage and both are isolated.  they did say the new sc ones, are much better now and most of this problem has been eliminated.

40 amp control should work fine. But the SLA batteries might have a hard time giving 18 amps for a whole hour (normal time for one battle).

Also the motor mounts have to be bigger in foot print. Too small and they will torque and rip from the bottom.

motor mounts, yes I was wonder and thinking about that, due to the size of the engine. with this motor mount, a couple csk screw from the out side into the bottom of the motor mount should stregthing it more than enought. saw this idea from a build thread.

drive shaft installed, used some glass for reinforcing

the gelcoat chiped off during drilling, but fille it back in with expoy
