But to stay on topic, those two hulls look amazing! I'm starting to think more seriously about scratchbuilding, now... maybe not a ship with guns, but a convoy vessel? Yeah, I can definitely see possibilities. | | | "I'ma learn you a thing or three real good-like..."

Both are planked from the center keel out with 1/16 plywood to just about the outer edge and then on the curves the are planked with 1/64 3 ply plywood. I then use 3 layers of 2 oz tight wove fiberglass cloth on the hard area below to jsut under the curve, from there I use 2 layers of 3 oz cloth across the flat bottom. The bow and stern get 3 to 4 layers of 2 oz cloth. I use marine grade resin on the cloth and then when it is lightly sanded I use 3 coats of marine grade ployurathane to make a good seal. All the insides will get pretty much the same treatment. Hope you enjoyed the pics, I have the thrid almost ready to fiberglass. It has been a lot of fun to build these ships, they are very unique and awsome! Buddy

Plus with it technically being mine, what with the paying for everything, I can take it to events in the nice car because it fits in the trunk of the Lincoln, something that is not true about Fuso. Don't worry, I am still a Japano-phile, I just like having boats to play with too. | | | IJN Nagato
