 | | 22 Aug 2009 04:53 AM | | An order has been placed with Strike Models for a Derfflinger Class Battlecruiser, turrets and plans. tephen tells me the order should go out Monday. I hope to use this thread for the build over the coming months. The boat will be built to conform with the following formats: IRCWCC MWC TREATY I will take as many pictures as possible during the build and will post them here and on the Treaty Yahoo site. I may even try my hand at a web site for the build. Thanks all, | | | Uberpooperscooper Bobo

Basically, you build for the tightest set of rules, then dial back the performance specs for speed and pump when running in Treaty. You might not be able to take advantage of every little thing that you could (say the two stringer rule in Treaty) but honestly, imho, this hobby shouldn't be about exploiting the rules as much as possible. | | | HMS Invincible

I can have, gun boards, buttons on the radio and all the other bells and whistles. The rules just state that I can only fire 2 shots per second, pump X amount of water a minute and so on and so on. It should be a fun build. An added plus is not having to patch all that damage. | | | Uberpooperscooper Bobo

How do you normally control the pump output in treaty? I'd use an ESC but im sure there are other ways. Any other interesting schemes? Im assmuing you will be using an ESC for the speed differences as well but im sure you could get it done with changing gear ratios or prop sizes? Do you have something in your boat that limits you to two shots a second or does every captain just time that in their head? | | | |

 | | 28 Aug 2009 08:09 AM | | As for me personally, I havent battled with the IRCWCC in several years, so I have just used smaller pumps to get my pump capacity down. Pots and ESCs are the easiest answer for a full sized IRCWCC/MWC pump. We allow changing batteries every sortie, so the loss associated with with a pot isnt a terrible deal. Most guys are using ESCs on drives now adays, I think I have the last servo style MAG in the club in my primary ship. I know one guy ripped his ESC out at the Conference after he went dead in the water and sunk, then had his ship start working again on the bench. I think he is going back to an ESC once he gets the wrinkles ironed out.
Adding a longer pump discharge hose and just coiling it up some helps lower the pump flow a bit too. ESCs have been talked about, but I am not sure anyone has used one yet, and others have said it would be difficult to use an ESC because of no end point adjustment on the channels you'd plug it into. I'm not smart enough to know the truth on that. I think some guys have even tried running their pumps in reverse for treaty battles to get the flow down, but I am not positive. I've also sleeved down my standard 1 unit pump discharge to limit the pump flow that way. I honestly think using an ESC is probably the best way though if they can get it working that way.
As for the shooting it's presently on the captain. When we hear someone that's shooting too fast at the pond, we usually just call out "rate of fire" and the perpetrator will back off. Some of the guys are working on firing circuits though to electronically limit the rate of fire. If they get that all worked out, I dont know if those will become mandatory or not. | | | HMS Invincible
