It works! the elevation via pivot works just as expected. Life is TBD, but we will soon see! the cannon, as should be obvious, works as expected.

The pond is public enough we probably won't be able to use it. But it would be great.
Cheers,

Very nice job indeed.
Did you build this kit yourself?
I am surprised that there are not more of these sweet little ships on the water.

Yes. that is the advantage having a guy you know with a laser cutter... all the superstructure was laser cut. bit of a dog on turning, I will probably make a new airfoil shaped rudder for her one of these days. few details left, still needs the air system installed and a few bits on the deck installed.

She's looking real good! Hopefully next year you'll be putting some holes in the rest of us with her.

Well, I did some crude testing tonight on that pump. with the motor not submerged, I get between. ~1 gallon per minute. Unfortunately I can not measure current directly, so I have to measure the energy input back into the cells (which will tend to overestimate current, but we will be in the ballpark. For current, I get about 4 amps under load (running about 8V under load), which is wonderful! this ends up with about 33W/gpm. I do not know what the current draw is on the stanard 2gpm pumps, so if anyone has numbers, please let me know I would love to compare pump power versus flowrate!

I should note, that what made this ship really doable from my perspective was the ability to custom make just about every single component.

I will be putting up pictures once she is fully finished.... but as a note, the firing system passed its first test tonight... the electronic switch + solenoid works swimmingly.... one unanticipated side effect, however (I can change this behavior, and certainly will, but it was an interesting surprise).

If there is a signal loss, it cycles the solenoid at about 1-2Hz. great for finding a ship with a failed buoy, not so good if it happens on the surface of the water..

I will probably set it to fail closed, but my mind is not made up...
