Well, it's the start of the build season and here it goes. I figured I would start with rebuilding of the beat up turrets. the old ones are made of aluminum sheet and bondo so now it's time to build out of something more durable. I use rubber bars that I get out of printing press folders. We have to change these every week so I have an unlimited supply for my needs. It is light, durable and grinds/ shapes ok. I am not making scale models here, just combat models.

here is the comparison between the old and new

new ones all painted up

quads being made

gun tubs made out of aluminum covered jug caps

finished quad

And the finished turrets. I now go back and pretty them a bit, all pieces are glued together with "GOOP" it works wonderful and holds up well.

Very nice looking. Hmm it might just inspire me to complete the Bama and take it to NATS this year. Too many boats and not enough time.
Just when you think you know the answers, I change the questions.

The Princess turned from regionals... She became "Sodakus Terribilicus" for Nats. I think it was the shark's teeth Steve painted on the front. It was Awesome at Nats. It fought hard and despite a few minor problems, made it UNSUNK. She just battled another weekend at Lake Louise. Now for the sad news... She will be retired from active duty this fall. I plan to document her summer with photos and redo her decks and details. Then she will painted back to camo and placed in the reserve fleet. Her guts are going to the Bismarck and will be powering the new terror of the seas. As for all that love her, she is never far away from a reactivation call....

The plan was to modularize the guts and transfer them from ship to ship. That will reduce costs and keep the core components working.

and yes it is cool!

Not to worry the Sodak fleet will avange the turning of there sister
“You will find only what you bring in.”
” Grave danger you are in. Impatient you are.”
” Once you start down the dark path, forever will it dominate your destiny, consume you it will.”
” Always in motion is the future.”
” Strong am I with the force.”

Powder, we were starting to miss you. Been quiet on the lists lately. Good to see you're still alive. No more battling this year?
