Well, it's the start of the build season and here it goes. I figured I would start with rebuilding of the beat up turrets. the old ones are made of aluminum sheet and bondo so now it's time to build out of something more durable. I use rubber bars that I get out of printing press folders. We have to change these every week so I have an unlimited supply for my needs. It is light, durable and grinds/ shapes ok. I am not making scale models here, just combat models.

here is the comparison between the old and new

new ones all painted up

quads being made

gun tubs made out of aluminum covered jug caps

finished quad

And the finished turrets. I now go back and pretty them a bit, all pieces are glued together with "GOOP" it works wonderful and holds up well.

Most of these details would look right at home on your ship too.

She actually looks better in real life, The pictures make her look "lumpy" I have 1/4 id clear rubber hose on my barrels. I always have that to protect against bb dings from hit barrels. I just painted them black to match. I'm not sure if I'm sold on it yet though...

The black does look different, how does it look sitting out in the sun? It may not standout so much then.

The pictures are more stark because of the camera flash. I like it in the light. The boat may return to grey but I am painting it white and black this year to celebrate my last year as a Allied captain. I am Iceman and this is the "Ice Princess", my Norwegian cruise ship [;)]
