Ok this is just a thought and it might be againts rules but this is me just wondering, never tested or anything just a thought, and i want to share my stupid thought to the world.....ok just imagine you know how some cars have front wheel drive and are good in the snow...well imagine a boat with front prop drive (rudders in the rear still), it might be better in speed raming and other countless things =) remeber this is me being an idiot in class thinking of stupid things, so feel free to coment i would love to hear the critisism on my bright but retarded idea thanks -Dave

I think Will was implying that you or your parents may have been irradiated back in the day.

That would be pretty funny, especially on the classes of ship that don't have aggressively forward-sloping bows... with the right size propellers and good forward momentum, one ought to be able to punch right through the balsa sheeting below the waterline and chew a lovely hole... or get stuck and cause a double-sink, heh. Sadly, I think the MWCI rules prohibit this because of the requirement for a ship's drive shafts to be in the scale number and positions. Also, if my experience trying to reverse-turn an Iowa-class battleship are any indication, separating the two elements of the drive (rudders and shafts) at opposite ends of the ship would make steering impossible. Then again, that's the Iowa-class, which is only a little longer and maybe ten pounds heavier than the Bismarck. You'd make an amazing one-way-only battering ram, though!

There are a very few warships that had a drive prop in the front. Main reason is that it's waaaaay less efficient at driving the boat than a prop at the stern. Google 'hull effect' and see why. Also, if you're a WWI ship, a drive prop in front would kind of make the ram bow (more) useless.

ok heres another idea on the ramming. i thought of the early u-boats were they had net cutters on the front, like spikes, im sure you know what i mean. anyway this would go good for people with subs would it not if your aloud to ram ships atleast

Seriously? I will grant you that your sub can freely ram any anti-torpedo netting that is deployed in-game. Ships? Not a chance.

It's possible the irradiation in Dave's lineage has somehow combined an interest in Naval history and a lack of frequent coitus into this ramming obsession...

...at this point, I am inclined to agree with Herr Tyng's assessment

But I am moving this thread to a more appropriate forum, like Next-gen combat, as it's clearly non-technical
