hey guys,

i'm trying to spice up the scuttlebutt, lets nominate people for Man of the Year (or woman).

Lets keep this confidential, so send me a PM with your nomination and why. Mind you this is for 2007.

What are the decision criteria for this "person of the year" competition? Are you looking for people who help the hobby? People who do rare or difficult things? People with exceptional (good or bad) combat records? Do they have to be people on this forum? Once you've got all the nominations, who decides the winner and how? I'd like to know a little more about this before I go nominating people.
There are 101 different types of people: those who understand binary, those who don't, and those who just can't count...

I'm not sure....

I think you could nominate people for anything that you listed, it doesn't have to be kept to certain standards - although perhaps just sinking 10x more ships than anyone else may not be qualification enough... at least be helpful when someone asks a question or something would help them win.... but being a good battler would also help them win. I like the rare or difficult things idea, but they don't have to have done something.

As for voting, i'm tossing around a few ideas. I may take the top nominees and list them in the scuttlebutt this month and then everyone can vote and next time around i'll announce the winner ... that would fill up space in both editions.
Or, i might select a panel of judges, or possibly just list them up here and have everyone vote.

Although its not required, i would ask that whoever anyone nominates they try to help me get a picture of them to put in the scuttlebutt.

Perhaps not "of the year" but "of the month"? Would be less drastic, and 12 people would get recognized / year. Perhaps, it could be honored member, or honorable mention or something like that.

yeah but we don't have a monthly issue, and we'd run out of people! Besides, there won't be much competition if we do monthly - most groups meet once a month, so not much would qualify you..... you loaned your dremel to somebody and wham, you get a prize! (although loaning tools might help in the yearly comp).
