| What are your favorite, sometimes bad movies to have playing when you are in the shop working on boats. Last night on Turner Classic there was Kelly's Heros followed by Where Eagles Dare. | | | Uberpooperscooper Bobo

| You should watch top gun or the greatest day or saving private ryan. I think that those movies would be good building movies, as long as you can pay enough attention to the boat. | | | Even though I walk

| Bad movies?
I guess Operation Petticoat would work, though I sure did dig the nurses...
Or maybe 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. It's campy enough that it sort of has a charm of it's own but the acting leaves a lot to be desired.
Tora, Tora, Tora would qualify in terms of a technically bad movie but I sure loved the action sequences when I was a kid.
PT-109 is pretty pathetic but was another favorite as a kid.
I'll throw out The Sand Pebbles with Steve McQueen but I must admit I never made it all the way through that one.
There's a stop animation version of Sinbad that was made in the late 50's or 60's. Oh man was that bad, even as a kid!
The remake of The Poseidon Adventure was pretty lousy.
But I think my all time worst boat related movie would have to be Waterworld. They should have confiscated Costner's Oscars after that dud!
I'm still waiting to purchase my first hull but I imagine these would make some decent build movies:
Lifeboat (I'm a huge Hitchcock fan) The Caine Mutiny Master & Commander Mister Roberts The African Queen Captain Blood The Crimson Pirate Run Silent, Run Deep Das Boot (would have to forgo subtitles and get the dubbed version for a build) Midway Sink The Bismark! (The Dark-Side wanna be in me always roots for the Bismark) Under Siege The Sea Hawk
Hmm, looks like I'll need to add a dvd player to my workshop.... | | 21.01.09 - SMS Von Der Tann Commissioned

| War movies.. The enemy below. Pursuit of the Graf Spee. Hunt for Red October. Battleground. Captain Horatio Hornblower. Battle of the bulge.
Non-war movies. The man with two brains. Deep rising.

| Sarge It is just like "Sink the Bismarck". It is a great show, although the Pocket-battleship is a Des Moines class I think. The two British light cruisers are actually the Ajax, and Achilles, on loan from the Indian navy just for the movie. I only have a copy that I got from someone years ago, but it is a fun one to watch while building. It is called "Pursuit of the Graf Spee", and one might be able to find one at Belle and Blade. (a movie store catalog). Mikey | | | |

| Don't forget the 2010 Space Battleship Yamato movie. Plenty of building time with occasional breaks for lasers and explosions and "fire the wave motion gun!" | | | There are 101 different types of people: those who understand binary, those who don't, and those who just can't count... | |
