Hello John
Welcome to the hobby, and this site.
Where abouts in Minn?
There is a fast-gun group based out of St. Paul called the Port Polar Bear group.
At least you don't have to try to figure out what boat you want to build. Haha.

Mikey

about 35 miles ne of duluth

Live out in the sticks

I have built my own running way for landing strip for my planes & been working on my pond for float planes/sea planes and now warships

pond when finished will be 100' x 300' 8-16 deep

I have all my own equipment from when I used to do dirt work

crawler dozer / excavtor/ etc

Geez, why couldn't you live out west? I've found some public ponds that will let me sail on them, but no one wants to host a battle... yet.

If you're serious about battling, you may want to reconsider the depth on that pond. I wouldn't want to pull a ship up out of a 16' deep pond.

16' may not seem that deep to you crazy guys from down under, but I find the 8' pond I battle in plenty deep enough! 4'-6' would be even easier to recover sunken wrecks. It's much safer when you can stand on the bottom with your head above water.

Is there a particular reason you want a 16' deep pond?

The pond is for fish /plan to stock it with walleyes and crappies/ use wind aerator for winter
deepest spot small area 23' most of it will be 6-8' this is a large area that is 16' then 12'
shallow taper on 2 sides / not to deep to fast/ but clay bottom / pain to walk on/sink/stuck/etc
didnt figure on combat ships/ just float /sea planes
not finished yet /have to make the north side 3-4 area for battling/ hope to have it down this fall
have a great day every one
