Paul good idea to go with three hatches, from what I have seen three works better than two.
That which does not kill me, makes me stronger.

I have been viewing pictures of Eric Broderick's Alabama on the old Pittelli site. He went with 5 hatches. I like the pics but not the size of the hatches he used.
Just when you think you know the answers, I change the questions.

The Sodak had the deck sanded this evening. I have now placed the deck plans onto of the ship so I can plan my deck cuts.

Well I started the cutting the hatches today. I am going with 4 hatches. One for the rudder gear, stern tripples, superstructure and forward sidemounts. The first two have been cut. The other two will be cut tommorow.

Sort of a downside to the build today. I dropped a set screw to some graupner universals and can not find it.

Hi, These set-screws are standard sizes (I think). At the Hobby Shop, down in the airplane section there are various size brass collars with set screws. A package is usually just a couple of dollars -- check those out -- the set screws might fit.
