 | | 20 Mar 2010 09:09 PM | | This may sound odd but what ships had quad turrets for their main armament? I know of 3 KGV CLASS DUNKERQUE CLASS RICHELIE CLASS probably spell last one wrong. | | | |

 | | 20 Mar 2010 09:18 PM | | The Normandie class but of course those were never finished due to the First World War. One was completed as the aircraft carrier Bearn. | | | I am prepared to meet my maker, whether He is prepared for the ordeal of meeting me is another matter.

 | | 20 Mar 2010 10:06 PM | | I have a vague memory of a North Carolina variant with 12 14" guns in 3 quad turrets. I will have to look that up though. | | | I am prepared to meet my maker, whether He is prepared for the ordeal of meeting me is another matter.

The French also planned a Lyon class battleship with sixteen cannons (in 4 quad turrets). Normandies Lyons Dunkerques KGVs North Carolinas Richelieus And possibly the Alsace

 | | 21 Mar 2010 01:45 PM | | It would have to be, as none of the 12x14" North Carolinas were built. When the London Treaty was clearly doomed the USN used the elevator clause and built the ships with 9x16" | | | I am prepared to meet my maker, whether He is prepared for the ordeal of meeting me is another matter.

There is another site that has never builts from countries other than the U.S. It even shows the proposed Polish battleship. It would have been built by the French and had only two turrets. | | 14 Jul 2010 10:08 AM | | The Belfast class cruisers were designed with 4 quad 6 inch turrets, but the turrets were never built and the ships ended up completed as 12 gun ships with triple turrets. | | | HMS Invincible
USS Salem (CA-139)
USS Belleau Wood (CVL-24)
