R/C Naval Combat

I think this is a very interesting question. But I am not sure that I know the answer.
I was originally looking at building a LeTerrible class super-destroyer for battlestations. But I eventually settled on a Mogador class. Mainly because it
was a little larger.
But I was planning to arm the cannons only. Not the torps.
I will look into this more and get back to you.
But one thing that comes to mind would be the availability of the torps you would be needing. And how many you could fit in .either of the ships.

I dont understand the availablity part but the reason I cant deside is;
1 if I chose the Gridley i dont have to do rotating torp launcher but i can only have 8 hitting per side.
2 if i chose the shimakaze i would have to rotate them but that means 15 hitting per side.
Isnt 15 hitting more devastating than 8 in different spots?

Space becomes a factor even in 1/96. The bigger the ship the easier to build. A generalization to be sure, but true in this case. A torpedo gun has the advantage of not needing a magazine as they are one shot weapons, but there is still plumbing and firing gear to consider. Not to mention drives and steering. You may have about six pounds or so to play with.

Was just looking for more info.
The Jap has 3 mounts of 5 tubes.
The Gridley has 4 mounts of 4 tubes.
So my question about availability meant..
Do you need (and can you get) the quad mounts somewhere, or are there any five-tube mounts available somewhere.
I have never heard of anyone selling 5-tube mounts. But I have heard of quad, and triple mounts.
Now, if you were planning to build your own, then that is another matter.
Then it would be about how many you can fit into either ship. And the Jap is a lot bigger.
But I have to agree with the last post.
Room and weight will still probably be a factor. At least to some extent.
