Mike, that is exactly why spurt guns don't get used much anymore... It's not much fun (to most people) to put all the effort into a ship, and driving to a battle, to only get one shot, however big, per sortie.
Battling: SMS Scharnhorst, SMS Baden Building: HMS KGV (Drives, pumps water, guns are in but not plumbed) MN Edgar Quinet (Hull done) Drydock/Mothballed: Rus Evstafi, DKM Lutzow, HMS Invincible Plus 20-odd other projects, according to my Boy Scouts who thoughtfully counted them for me.

Oh, I agree with you. I'm just saying that they are quite capable of causing catastrophic damage if used by a patient captain. What I have actually put some thought into is setting up a cruiser with a spurt gun and a single shot gun set to fire separately. You could use the single shot gun for finding the range and when you have just the solution you want, dump the spurt on someone.

You'd still get the "fun" factor of shooting multiple times, and the "X" factor of being able to just plain throw down with that big spurt. If nothing else, everytime you swing that stern around, someone on the other side would cringe and hope that this isn't the time you're going to open up a can of "Axis B Gone" on them!
