R/C Naval Combat

I'm still hunting around trying to find a source for light-weight regulators since Battlers has been out of stock for quite a while now, and I just realized that I have no idea how much the smeggin' things weigh.

I just weighed the standard regulator I got from Paul and it weighs appx. 1.2 pounds.

Does anyone have a light-weight one they can weigh, or know the weight of it for comparison purposes? Thanks!

You realize that a light weight regulator that is out of stock with Battlers is nothing more than a milled down version of the normal regulator. I have one of each at my place in use and if I had a lathe for metal I would mill down the normal one to save weight.

My guess in weight difference since I have no scales at home. The light weight weight one come in just under the 1 lb mark then.

Under the "lightweight regulator" thread above, I found aluminum ones that only weigh 3.8oz (less than 1/4 pound), so that's MY idea of a lightweight regulator.

Be carefull about chucking the fullsize regulator in a lathe and milling it down. The manufacture will not stand behind a altered product at full c02 pressure. The IRCWCC ruleset will not allow this to be battled and many a war was fought over this in the past. I am not sure if our insurance(Namba) would stand behind a claim caused by this. That being said, there are lightweight alternatives. Not saying you can't do it but be prepared for reactions from people. Nobody knows what the safe tolerance is for pressure vs thickness of brass here.

I would not mess with manufactured CO2 parts. seems like youre asking for trouble.

We all agree on the low pressure side is ok. (the side past the regulator). On the high side, you are looking at max co2 pressure. Throw in temp and it could get dangerous. I would also like to say that I don't know of any altered regulators failing in defense of the machinists out there. Nowadays we have more alternatives so why not use them?

I did not mean to just toss one in to a lathe at all and I realize some rule sets do not allow that reg to even be used. If you were to get it milled down have it done by someone who has a very good idea of what they are doing. There are alternatives out there, but so far I have heard of issues with them as well. Honestly I feel there is no perfect light weight Reg made yet that works well in our hobby.
