 | | 28 Apr 2010 04:58 PM | | I am not an IT guy nor an Web Developer... I write medial device windows applications. I am now under the assumption that the server crashes we're seeing are above my ability to diagnose. I would really appreciate it if someone with some strong Windows Server and MS SQL Server experience would step up and help me out. The server itself is as far as I can tell prestine with very very few things that seem out of order. The same goes for the SQL Server, it is setup with it's maintanence programs... and looks pretty happy. The event log is also clear with the exception of what looks like SQL maintanence program issue on a DB that is running a different site. As far as I can tell this exception is what is bringing us down. There are no Hackers this time, there are no viruses... I'm sure its just purely me being an idiot. | | Cheers,

This is by far, the best R/C warship combat site on the net. I would help if I could. But as most of you already know. It is all I can do to post messages, and photos, without screwing something up, and asking for help from others. But I do hope that get the help you need, so that we can all continue to hang out in one place. RCNC Mikey

 | | 29 Apr 2010 11:25 AM | | Justin,
I'm a web developer, and a database integration specialist, but I work with Unix and mySQL- not Windows. However, even though I'm a Unix guy, I have people all around me who are Windows pros. From what I know about Windows, I wouldn't be surprised if the problem is a Microsoft bug. If you want to send me a complete description of the problem you're having, and especially when it happens, I'll see if any of my Windows server/IT guys can help.

when it goes down it takes the web publishing service (or whatever it's called). | | Cheers,

 | | 29 Apr 2010 11:34 PM | | First thing I would do is isolate RCNaval onto its own application pool. That will insulate it fairly well against any other sites you're hosting from nuking it since you're no longer sharing the memory pool and are running on a different worker process.
Second thing I'd do is either fix or take down the other site.
Database errors rarely take down the main web publishing service, but a misbehaving webapp can, running in different application pools minimizes that risk to a degree. | | Running: SMS Derfflinger,

 | | 02 May 2010 03:46 PM | | I usually get to hand off these problems to our db gurus but for all of my work with SQL Server databases, I have not seen a database that is "suspect". The rest of the errors all point back to the database as the core issue. Concentrate on fixing the database. | | | WCC Minister of Misinformation. | |
