I have a lot of new systems coming online; but instead of just throwing them out there like I have been doing... I need to pace myself & build up anticipation. Phase I (1 week-ish) - Private Messaging; yes it will be released with this change. HORRAH! - Advanced Profiles; more fields... even some required fields. How helpful would it be to simply look at a person's profile to find out where they are; what format to they fight; axis / allied.... The possibilities are endless! - My Friends; everybody has friends... So why not make it official. Each user gets a list of friends; so they can better keep in contact with them without having to look up their user account everytime. - My Wall; In addition to sending PM messages to a friend can 'write on your wall'. Leaving a message on someone's profile, wishing them perhaps a happy birthday. (MySpace-like) You can of course reply to whatever dirty little message they sent you.
- Unified Profiles; this site maintains exactly 2 profiles for each of you. One that I can see, and one that everyone can see. Not good, that means what you update in one profile doesn't get shown in the other. - Captain Finder; newbies can find local captains; captains can search their area to find potential new recruits; and two potential captains can find each other and start a new group. - And more... Phase II (2-3 weeks-ish) - User Groups; This could be as defined as an 10 year-old club, a newly formed club, or just a couple friends trying to build the latest pump... External website, group details, location, members, etc can all be defined and advertised. - My groups; of course, once you are signed up for a group you can wear it on your profile proudly. - Group Events; combat clubs of course need events... or else they aren't much of a combat club. Each group can define and advertise its own events. - Search by group; help newbies find a local group - And much much more... | | Cheers,

Wow, that sounds like a strong tool for the forum. I'm not sure how active many clubs are on this forum (my MWCI, Region 3 uses a listserve though several folks are also on here) but if I'm understanding you right then this feature could allow clubs to stay in touch via this tool in addition to the public forum. At the very least groups could be based upon fleet, class of ship, or even model of ship. Imagine having a method to contact all captains of the same boat as you. Thanks for all the work.
