| | 27 Sep 2007 04:38 PM | | I have a design for mines that actually do damage to the ship that hits it, not just burn the motor out with string. It will shoot out a stream of bbs in multiple directions so any other ships too close get damaged too.
I need to either fix my flash drive or get the file back from someone on the mailing lista. Either way, I'll post the design soon. It will be a powerpoint file.

In the Russo-Japanese war they had mines that were tethered so that when a ship hit the tether its forward motion would pull the mine into its hull. That would work with some of these. That is the sort of mine that got the Navarin.

I was planning on using 4 barrels. I only showed one for simplicity.

...i've had the unpleasant event happen from sidemounts that stick out past the ship and the guy would hug me....tearing me apart. Its not pleasant, nor the slightest realistic....and one underwater would be extremely devastating... you wouldn't even need the bb's. | | | "We have met the enemy, and they are ours!" -Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry

| | 29 Sep 2007 02:04 PM | | would this be free floating or anchored down? the downfall with anchored is that everyone will know where its at. The downfall of free floating is it could go in the deep end and become useless..... or up against the shore and detonates against a rock and proves useless. | | | "We have met the enemy, and they are ours!" -Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry | |
