Even cheaper - the Hobby King 2.4gHZ 6ch computer programmable from Hobby City. Not for the fiant of heart - you do have to purchase the download cable and find the software online, but for $33 for the radio and $5 or less for the cable, pretty darned inexpensive. WWCC used several of the cheaper, no frills (no programmability, no EPAs, nothing) 4 ch Hobby Kings at Maker Faire with no issues.

Yes, you are buying direct form Hong Kong, and the box is plain white, and there are no instructions included (the manual is on the internet. So, not for the faint of heart or newb.
