Pretty easy.
I have widened out the water-channel in my Strasbourg twice.
Just mark it with a marker, or ink-pen, then slice through it with a hobby knife. Then get under it with a hobby knife that looks like a chisel, and it came right out.

I don't think we have that brand here in Canada. The stuff I used was kinda gritty, not silicone like. What would be the Canadian equivilant?

I wouldn't screw anything heavy to it. It is rubber.

If you are looking for light weight, rigidity, self leveling, etc. Smooth-on Feather lite http://www.smooth-on.com/Urethane-Plastic-F/c1120_1162/index.html might be just the ticket for you.

If you want a slope, just tilt the ship in the direction you want it toi slope up while it cures You want it to slope up toward the bow, raise the stern).

Cheers,
