Oh hell no, Monk. Don't cross any lines you don't want to on a safe-for-work-and-young-minds forum :P

Battling: SMS Scharnhorst, SMS Baden Building: HMS KGV (Drives, pumps water, guns are in but not plumbed) MN Edgar Quinet (Hull done) Drydock/Mothballed: Rus Evstafi, DKM Lutzow, HMS Invincible Plus 20-odd other projects, according to my Boy Scouts who thoughtfully counted them for me.

I'd be happy to scan in a couple pages if you need them.

The ship in question will PROBABLY be the USS Canberra if that helps find the picture. It's the only one I know of to be hit by a torpedo.

safe-for-work-and-young-minds? I'm pretty sure it's you old-timers that need protection from the young-minds thoughts! :)

I've got that book & can't find the photo in question. Canberra's damage is noted in text. The only 2 photos of her are post-conversion to a CAG, then back to a CA.

Regardless, though, consider the purpose of the structure. It's not a box, to enclose something; it's basically a beam, & should be expected to be about as thick as the rudder.
