Hi Eric; if no one posts anything right away, you might check out www.portpolarbear.com, www.mwci.org, or ircwcc.com for possible leads on ships for sale that are more or less ready to run. Failing anything turning up there, good starter ship kits are sold by www.strikemodels.com and www.battlersconnection.com, and Bob H makes an awesome DVD on how to build a model warship for fast gun combat. One other thing to take into consideration for your search for a ship is the rule set; big gun and fast gun seem to be the standard bearers for the hobby, with treaty right in between. I myself am going to break into the hobby with a fast gun ship; it will probably have to be a kit I build myself because I have particular tastes and I don't always have the money ready when a good ship comes along for sale.

Hope this helps you at least a little bit!

I dont know of any ships for sale much less a beginner ship, at least in the MWCI. Best bet is find someone in your area so you can talk to them about the type of club in that area. That way your ship will be compatible with their ruleset.

A 4 or 4.5 unit ship would allow you to keep the cost down, it would be rugged and be able to take some damage (properly builit and with a good pump), and you will be able to dish out some damage.

Small ships are much harder to build.

Good luck!

Johnny

You should take him up on the Deutschland, It's a great starter ship. It's got 2 cannons,1-50 BB 1unit and at 75 bb 1.5 unit cannon and then use a full size pump. And it's fast enough to get out of most trouble at 23 seconds.
