Gents - I've been in the hobby now 3-4 years. I am a scratch builder. Although I do not do combat, I've built several rc ships. Please enjoy pics:

My style of building is a fun style (not museum quality). Find samples of my build methods at:

I am also affordable. You must provide plans in desired scale. No order too small. Emails can be sent to: smittybuiltins@yahoo.com

    Sample of typical order:

Thanks. Oh, not limited to ships. I am a woodworker by trade.

totaldestruction - Yes, I can build fiberglass hulls; although I take a different approach than most.

Every ship I've ever built has been 100% scratch built by me.

Hey Gents, thanks for the compliments.

Name the scale, I'll give it a whirl. If you're not happy, you don't pay. I'm a fun spirited hobbyist who will try to work with all budgets. If you can't afford a silicone or latex mold, I'll offer you a ridgid mold or just a few fittings. Heck, the best way to afford some of this stuff is to go in 1/2s with a buddy or two.

Does not cost to ask for a quote. smittybuiltins@yahoo.com

I will have to consider a couple of scratch built wood hulls in the future when I get up some money for them.

Ragresen - I will be looking forward to your order.

    Chris Easterbrook - Awesome compliment.

Totaldestruction / Evil Joker - When you're ready, give me a shout. I can fashion the hull to your spec. Keep in mind, less detail equates to less cost.

Stokamoto - Seaview in 1:118 (6ft.) would cost me about $1,500 to develop. What that means is I'd have to have three sold before getting started at $875 ea. I've never build a sub, but have always had it in the back of my mind.

At the moment, I'm working on a complete RTR IJN Fuso (not painted). This should run about 3K. It can be purchased for less as an incomplete kit, depending on budget of customer.

How do you estimate the cost of a new hull?
(A fiberglass hull, to be more specific.)

eljefe - ?Que onda compa? Cost of a mold is determined by a few factors; material, time, difficulty and part popularity. I also need to make a few bucks.

Koteri87 - You will enjoy this all wood build of Tarawa.

    Rich,

Beautiful work! Glad to have someone else building hulls and parts in this hobby!

I'm an IJN fan, building a 1/96 scale Shimakaze. What would it cost for hollow IJN quint torpedo lauchers and twin turrets?

    Many thanks,

    Carl

If you think I know espanol, you have unrealistic expectations! My three years of high school Spanish failed me, and I had to look up that expression. I do know what el jefe means though...and donde esta el bano.
I am looking at a few hulls not available in fiberglass that I may want to buy, so it's good to know there's a local southern Californian who may be able to build them. I'm still researching sources of plans and whittling my list of options down for now, so I'm not quite ready to solicit quotes yet.
